Every other year the Albuquerque Fiber Arts Council holds their largest event, the Albuquerque Fiber Arts Fiesta. There is a large juried quilt show with both modern and traditional categories and a large vendor hall. This year Fiesta was held in May, and I entered two quilts – my Albuquerque 2020 temperature quilt and Big ...Read more

One goal I’ve had over the past few years is make sure that all of my quilting supplies fit in a nice and organized manner in my one sewing room/studio. I have enough stuff – more fabric than quilts I will probably make in my lifetime – but somehow it is really hard to turn ...Read more
  • Albuquerque 2020 Temperature Quilt at QuiltCon 2022

I wrote about my plans to make a Temperature Quilt back at the beginning of 2020 (here).  As it turned out, it was a really great project that crazy year!  I finished the quilt top shortly after the end of 2020 and quilted it in 2021. For the quilting I really wanted to pull forward ...Read more

We are SO CLOSE to the end of 2020 and I’m rushing to get all of my finishes from the year captured!  I actually did a lot of sewing during the year but for some reason just wasn’t in the mood for blogging.  I do want to make sure I capture all my finishes though, ...Read more

Well, you know I love Star Wars.  I’ve made a few Star Wars themed quilts in the past (Death Star, and Han and Leia), so I couldn’t resist when I saw this BB8 paper pieced pattern.  I found the pattern free at Fandom in Stitches (on Instagram at @FandominStitches) early on during the quarantine this ...Read more

I have had this fabric for a long time.  I bought it for a baby quilt for a friend – probably about 20 years ago! – and apparently I bought so much it just keeps giving and giving.  I go through spurts of taking out fabric, cutting it up and putting it into bags for …

I’m suffering from a bit of a loss of my sewing mojo.  This is kind of a strange thing as I love the last 2 quilts I finished and I got a ton of positive feedback about both of them.  It turns out I also won prizes in the Q1 and Q2 FAL, which was …

I only got two done this quarter, but they were big ones.  Both were block of the month or quilt along projects from 2016.  I’m really happy to have them completed, and I’ve overjoyed with how they came out. This is the list I started with:   Sugar Block Club 3.0  – top is done, …

Time again for the Bloggers Quilt Festival!  I did just post about my finished Splendid Sampler but I’m so happy with it, here it is again as an entry for the Festival: I recently did a longer post with more detail photos of the quilting here…so head on over to that post if you want …

It is a big quilt, and it is finished! I started the Splendid Sampler in February 2016 when it first came out and they were releasing 2 blocks a week.  I did reasonably well keeping up, and the quilt is now a nice memory of 2016.  I designed the sashing, which I love, and then …

I’ve had great time with my Bee Inspired bee group this year.  I’ve never been in a Bee, and I really had no idea what this whole Bee thing entailed.  I chose to be Queen later in the year so I could figure it all out before having to choose a block for the group. …

I’m trying to do a better job posting this year I’m trying to do a better job posting this year - last year I didn’t even have enough posts total to make a top 9!
I finished my Ruby Stars quilt top last week at our retreat. This is a @cluckclucksew pattern where I used a @rubystarsociety panel for the centers and starry and hole punch dot for the stars. I love how it came out!
I got to quilt this lovely made by @kgroman13 , ow I got to quilt this lovely made by @kgroman13 , owner of @gatheringstitches (all the Tula, all the time! 😆).
It came out so great! I realized I hadn’t been doing much custom quilting anymore so this was a good challenge. I leaned on a lot of inspiration from the original version of this quilted by @angelafmq and the second one I saw quilted by @quiltingismybliss I figured if I could get some help on WHAT to quilt I could just focus on the execution.
I think I’ll do more custom quilting this year!
Thanks to Kristin for trusting me with her quilt.
