Well, you know I love Star Wars. I’ve made a few Star Wars themed quilts in the past (Death Star, and Han and Leia), so I couldn’t resist when I saw this BB8 paper pieced pattern. I found the pattern free at Fandom in Stitches (on Instagram at @FandominStitches) early on during the quarantine this year and pretty much dropped every other project to piece and quilt this guy.
There are a lot of really small pieces but with the paper piecing it really wasn’t that hard to do.
Here he is finished:
I did pebbles in the brown rings, closely spaced up and down lines in the white, and then loose spacey swirls in the background.
The back looks really cool with all the quilting:
I found a BB8 photo online and printed it on fabric to make a label. I’m pretty bad about making labels, so I was happy to get this done and attached right away.
BB8 was a fun quick finish earlier in the year!
Final Details:
- Finished 18″x18″
- Warm and Natural batting
- Aurifil brown, white and blue on the top and Bottom line in the bobbin.
- 48,295 total quilting stitches.
Wow! And it looks almost as cool from the back! That’s a lot of thread!! Happy New Year!
Thanks! and it was a LOT of thread! Happy New Year to you too.
I love Star Wars. I love this quilt. Thanks for sharing.
