Every other year the Albuquerque Fiber Arts Council holds their largest event, the Albuquerque Fiber Arts Fiesta. There is a large juried quilt show with both modern and traditional categories and a large vendor hall. This year Fiesta was held in May, and I entered two quilts – my Albuquerque 2020 temperature quilt and Big ...Read more

One goal I’ve had over the past few years is make sure that all of my quilting supplies fit in a nice and organized manner in my one sewing room/studio. I have enough stuff – more fabric than quilts I will probably make in my lifetime – but somehow it is really hard to turn ...Read more
  • Albuquerque 2020 Temperature Quilt at QuiltCon 2022

I wrote about my plans to make a Temperature Quilt back at the beginning of 2020 (here).  As it turned out, it was a really great project that crazy year!  I finished the quilt top shortly after the end of 2020 and quilted it in 2021. For the quilting I really wanted to pull forward ...Read more
  • Dots Quilt Finish

We are SO CLOSE to the end of 2020 and I’m rushing to get all of my finishes from the year captured!  I actually did a lot of sewing during the year but for some reason just wasn’t in the mood for blogging.  I do want to make sure I capture all my finishes though, ...Read more
  • BB8

Well, you know I love Star Wars.  I’ve made a few Star Wars themed quilts in the past (Death Star, and Han and Leia), so I couldn’t resist when I saw this BB8 paper pieced pattern.  I found the pattern free at Fandom in Stitches (on Instagram at @FandominStitches) early on during the quarantine this ...Read more

The Beginnings of an Orange Peel Quilt

I’m trying to do a better job of blogging more regularly.  A big part of that is that I tend to wait for a quilt finish to write about it so my blog posts are limited by the rate of my finishes.  That seems silly, so I’m going to try and do better with it! …

I had 6 projects on my Q3’18 FAL list and finished 3 of the 6.  I declared August the “Month of Quilting” – as in actual quilting on my long arm – as it is hot outside in August and I planned on being home for the whole month.  I have to say I had …

I’m a part of this great international quilt bee group called ‘Bee Inspired’.  There are 12 of us from all over the world who met though a new bloggers online group in 2016.  We have a Queen each month who selects a block that she wants us to make, then writes a blog post on …

I just love the Elizabeth Hartman critter patterns.  I bought a bunch of them last year, and so far have completed Dwight the Dear and Hazel the Hedgehog quilts.  I love them – they are not quick to do! – but I love them. Bjorn the Bear was one of the patterns I bought, and …

The Albuquerque Modern Quilt Guild hosted a weekend of classes with Bill Kerr of Modern Quilt Studio in June.  Modern Quilt Studio is the partnership between Bill and his wife, Weeks Ringle.  One of my goals for the year has been to work on my design skills and two of the classes – The Role …

I’ve been doing a bit more quilting for clients recently, which I’ve really been enjoying.  I love quilting on my longarm, and it is a fun to see other people’s work. I met Susan through a mutual friend.  She does a lot of stamping and card making, but this was her first quilt.  She did …
