I just love the Elizabeth Hartman critter patterns. I bought a bunch of them last year, and so far have completed Dwight the Dear and Hazel the Hedgehog quilts. I love them – they are not quick to do! – but I love them.
Bjorn the Bear was one of the patterns I bought, and with just the right pack of Kona fat quarters in my stash I set off to make some bears. I think I started piecing back in the spring and finished the top at my quilt retreat in June.
Here was the finished quilt top at the retreat:
And here is the finished quilt post quilting. I just did a simple allover design in a light pink thread as I hope this quilt will be well used:
some close ups:
love the pink girl with the glasses – I’m calling her Becky the Bear:

It was a pretty day outside for photos:
and Maggie was happy to help:
My version of Bjorn the Bear (with Becky!) is going to a very special little girl who will be making her arrival in October. I hope mom, dad, and new baby girl love all the bears!
This was on my Q3’18 FAL list, so I’ll be linking up at the end of the quarter.
I love your version, very sweet, perfect for a baby girl!
Thanks Fred! It was a fun version to make. I do hope they like it.
Thanks so much for stopping by.
So cute!!! I love all the colorful bears! I’ve made Hazel the Hedgehog and Bunny by Elizabeth Hartman; I really like her animals though some of her pieces get to fiddly for me. I LOVE the colors in this! Do you know what the background color is? I am sure the new arrival and her parents will love it!
Thanks. I agree they can ge very fiddly! I think it is kona Steel – I got a deal on a 4 yard cut and then thought it was an awfully dark grey. I do like it with the bright colors. Thanks sor your kind comments.
The bears are so cute and the quilt is sure to be loved and used! On behalf of the entire FAL crew, thanks for participating in FAL this year.
