Bloggers Quilt Festival – Splendid Sampler Entry

Time again for the Bloggers Quilt Festival!  I did just post about my finished Splendid Sampler but I’m so happy with it, here it is again as an entry for the Festival:

I recently did a longer post with more detail photos of the quilting here…so head on over to that post if you want to see more!

This guy was really a labor…and eventually a labor of love!  I kept up with all of the blocks during 2016 when they were released, and now it is a great album of a year where I personally experience a lot of change.  I also had a ton of fun quilting it, and I’m so proud of how it came out.

Linking up with the Bloggers Quilt Festival as my first entry.  Thanks to Amy for hosting the Festival again.

    1. Thanks so much for your comment, and for stopping by. I have to admit I was really happy to have the project wind down – there were 120 blocks! – but it was fun to do and fun to quilt. And now fun to look at and remember the year.

Really appreciate you coming by and your kind words.

    1. Thank you so much! I think the designers and the coordinators did a great job pulling this project together. The blocks really are diverse and interesting, but somehow it all pulls together really well. And all the different techniques were fun to do, and fun to learn.

  1. Oh this is lovely! I watched all those blocks being released week by week, but resisted the urge to join in. I love that you’ve finished yours and sewn them all together. You should be very proud of this quilt. It looks wonderful.

    1. Thank you so much! I am proud! It was hard to keep up with all of the blocks, and I was really glad when they were all done, but I am so happy with the result. I do think I’ll need a few years before doing one of these again though!

  2. I love this! I am also a Splenderette, though I am still working on mine 🙂 I stitched the blocks last year in the first round and I’m now quilting them using quilt-as-you-go. It’s so nice to see everyone’s finishes as they come along. Yours is really beautiful! I love how you personalized some of the block designs. Thanks for sharing!

    1. Thank you so much! Keep working on it – you will love it in the end. I’ve never done quilt-as-you-go- do you like it?
I got a lot of inspiration for the blocks and the quilting from the Splendid Sampler Facebook page – there was a lot of great ideas from that group. Good luck, and I’d love to see it when it is done.

  3. A beautiful sampler. What work it must have been to keep up with all the blocks. I also like your sashing. Is it pieced? Did you design that yourself? It unites these blocks very well. Congratulations.

  4. Ann, your quilt looks amazing. I was wondering if anyone actually kept up with sewing along. There were a lot of patterns. My favorite block are the coneflower and the butterfly.

    1. Thanks so much. It was a lot of work to keep up, and I did have a marathon session at the end to finish them all up. The coneflower did turn out cool. The butterflies did too, but they were not the easiest to paper piece!
