Every other year the Albuquerque Fiber Arts Council holds their largest event, the Albuquerque Fiber Arts Fiesta. There is a large juried quilt show with both modern and traditional categories and a large vendor hall. This year Fiesta was held in May, and I entered two quilts – my Albuquerque 2020 temperature quilt and Big ...Read more

One goal I’ve had over the past few years is make sure that all of my quilting supplies fit in a nice and organized manner in my one sewing room/studio. I have enough stuff – more fabric than quilts I will probably make in my lifetime – but somehow it is really hard to turn ...Read more
  • Albuquerque 2020 Temperature Quilt at QuiltCon 2022

I wrote about my plans to make a Temperature Quilt back at the beginning of 2020 (here).  As it turned out, it was a really great project that crazy year!  I finished the quilt top shortly after the end of 2020 and quilted it in 2021. For the quilting I really wanted to pull forward ...Read more
  • Dots Quilt Finish

We are SO CLOSE to the end of 2020 and I’m rushing to get all of my finishes from the year captured!  I actually did a lot of sewing during the year but for some reason just wasn’t in the mood for blogging.  I do want to make sure I capture all my finishes though, ...Read more

Well, you know I love Star Wars.  I’ve made a few Star Wars themed quilts in the past (Death Star, and Han and Leia), so I couldn’t resist when I saw this BB8 paper pieced pattern.  I found the pattern free at Fandom in Stitches (on Instagram at @FandominStitches) early on during the quarantine this ...Read more

The Albuquerque Modern Quilt Guild had their annual de-stash sale on earlier this month.  I really should have bought a table to sell some stuff and not gone shopping, but alas, shop I did. I couldn’t resist this really cute pack of fabric pieces and scraps. Aren’t these bugs in the jars cute? These turtles …

Last year my Albuquerque Modern Quilt Guild decided to do the Sugar Block Club 3.0 Block of the Month club.  It seemed like we all had a lot of energy about it for the first few months, but the enthusiasm waned.  I tried to keep up with the blocks every month, and had a big …

Mid Year Check In – how am I coming on my goals?

Heading into the year Yvonne at Quilting JetGirl hosted a linky party for setting 2017 goals.  We are over halfway through the year, so it’s time to check in on what I said I was going to do. Going in, I said that my word(s) for the year were ‘Settle In’, as I had a lot of …

Can’t believe half of the year is gone already.  I have fewer goals this quarter, but much larger quilts and bigger finishes. Sugar Block Club 3.0  – top is done, back is done, batting is ready to go.  It is actually loaded on the frame now and I’ve started quilting. Splendid Sampler – top is …

Q2’17 FAL – Wrap Up

I had fewer projects on my list this quarter, but a few pretty big ones a long time in the making.  Also a few that would require me to feel pretty confident with my still new long arming skills to complete.  I did reasonably well. Here was this list: Circa 1934 Squares:  This is the …

For our June Bee block, Karen of Tu-Na Quilts picked a really fun block.  She had a fun trip to Paris a few years ago, and used that trip as inspiration for these blocks.  Black and white french poodles, to which she will add setting pieces in shades of pink and wine for contrast.  Should …
