Bee Inspired Quilt Bee Group – January Block

I joined a Quilt Bee!  I’m so excited.  There was a group of us from the 2016 New Quilt Bloggers group who decided to get together and do a Bee.  I’ve never done a Bee before, and I frankly wasn’t all that sure what I was signing up for!  But the group was gentle on me and gave me a good set of instructions…and with that, I was in!

We have a blog for the group – check it out at here.  We are a group of international quilters, which is really cool.  I’m looking forward to seeing the blocks everyone selects, and to seeing what everyone does with those blocks.  I enjoyed BOMs and quilt-a-longs last year because it was fun to see all the different interpretations of the same block.  I am choosing to get involved with fewer groups this year because keeping up with all of the blocks is hard, but I know this group will give me that collaborative fix I’m looking for!

For January, Sharon at Yellow Cat Quilt Designs is our Queen, and she wrote this post to introduce her block. I was really happy she posted it early as I could get it done before I ended my winter vacation and went back to work!

Here is my block:

I kind of got wrapped up in sewing it so I forgot to take photos along the way, but it came together really quickly.  It is a paper pieced block – actually 4 paper pieced blocks that join together into one bigger block.  Sharon asked for bright colors on cream/neutral backgrounds, and I think I did pretty well.

This seems like a good block to use up a bunch of different colored scraps, so I might be revisiting this one in the future.

Thanks Sharon for a fun block!
